Because the bumper body and base are one continuous piece, there is no possibility of the bumper separating from the mounting plate, a failure mode that can occur with steel base plate designs. This construction also makes the P Series significantly lighter than comparable steel base configurations, which simplifies installation and reduces load on crane end trucks. The S Series features a cylindrical polyurethane elastomer bumper body bonded perpendicular to a square steel base plate with four mounting holes.
