Smarter Pads are a new series of Urethane pads that are molded with a tang to mount them directly on a press brake, without needing a retainer for AMADA, TRUMPF, European and American style PRESS BRAKES.

They are designed for sharp V-bends, radius V-bends, radius U-bends & full 180 degree radius bends and 2-hit bull nose bends as shown below:

POD style pads are rectangular shaped, with flat top surface, and a molded tang for mounting, designed to make 90 degree bends in up to 10 Ga. M.S.

A molded hole through the full length of the pad provide for stress relief and require lower tonnage.

PUD style pads have a molded U-shaped groove on the top surface and are designed to form a full 180 degree bend in one hit to form a specific outside radius. Capable of over-bending up to 15 degrees to allow for spring back.

PUDs are square or Rectanglular shaped Pads with a molded U-Shaped top surface to enable 180 degrees U-Bends in one hit. (1st & 4th pads in above photo)

PODs & PUDs are available in several deflections & durometers: 15%- 95A Amber;25%-90A Red, 35%-80A Green, 40%-70A Blue

Available in deflection ratings of 15%(95A), 25%(90A), 35%(80A)

POD pads are designed for Sharp V-Bends, as well as radius V-bends or for bump forming any radius shape of upto 2" R.

PUD type pads have a molded U-shaped groove on the top surface, with radius equal to the outside radius of the part to be bent. Spring-back allowance must be made in determining the size of the punch. For one-hit U-bends, overbend upto 20 degrees is possible

PBN pads are designed to form a full 180 Degree bull nose bend in 2 hits, without the sheet metal touching the ram. As illustrated in the sketch below: The first hit forms about a 100 Degree arc. By positioning the sheet metal so that there is a 10 degree overlap between the first hit and the second hit, a perfect blend between the 2 hits is obtained, without any bend lines or die marks. If the sheet metal is too springy It may be necessary to make more than 3 hits to get a 180 degree bend.
