This
unique Urethane Die is used as an upper die to blank, punch,
emboss, or perform any combination of those operations with
just a single steel matching die required. Works on metal thickness
up to 12 gauge.
Available in 2-1/2”, 4” , 6” sizes- it has
a special urethane pad retained inside a uniquely designed system
which controls the pressure as the pad is acted upon by a steel
plunger. Press force may be applied by the ram of a punch or
press brake acting on the plunger which transfers the force
to the urethane pad. Sheet metal is placed over a lower steel
die made to the shape and / or contour of the finished part.
PUNCHING, BLANKING FORMING:
To punch round or shaped openings into a sheet metal, the
die has to be slightly larger than the piece part, in order
to locate the blank, and for blank holding. Any cluster of
openings that fit within the pad area are punched at one time.
In blanking, the urethane die flows over the edge of a lower
die shearing the material at that point.
